Hélène's story

My story - the way to Hotel Azur ♡

I completed my bachelor’s degree in nursing, but deep down I soon realised that my future lay elsewhere. While studying, I kept searching for something that truly felt like me — something creative, something personal, something that felt like coming home.

In 2020, the year the world came to a standstill, an unexpected opportunity changed everything. I was given the chance to open the hotel — then still a charming but very outdated building — as a pop‑up for four months. I was 21, with no experience, no network and barely any resources. But I did have a dream, an unstoppable drive and a feeling that this place might just become my own.

The months leading up to the opening were intense. Between internships and exams, I refreshed the hotel with whatever I had: paint, creativity and a lot of determination. I built a website myself, put the hotel online, contacted suppliers, created visibility… all from my student room, without any knowledge of entrepreneurship. It was exciting, chaotic and at times overwhelming.

When the summer of 2021 arrived, I worked seven days a week. I made mistakes, learned quickly, cried from exhaustion — but also from pride. And somewhere in the middle of all that, I discovered something important: this didn’t feel like work. It felt like a calling.

After that first summer, I knew I wanted to continue. My parents wanted me to finish my degree, so I combined my studies with three summers of pop‑up Hotel Azur. Everything I earned, I reinvested into the hotel. Each year it became a little more beautiful, a little more boutique, a little more “me”.

When I graduated, I faced a life‑changing decision: either stop here, or renovate the entire hotel and fully commit. I chose the second — with all the excitement, risk and dreams that came with it.

In 2024, Hotel Azur was completely renovated. Two years later, at 26, I run the hotel full‑time and it still feels like living my dream every single day. I welcome guests the way I love to be welcomed myself: warm, personal, with an eye for detail and a heart for beauty.

And the best part? I get to share this adventure with my dog, who has become part of the concept and brings joy to every day.

None of this would have been possible without my family — my parents and sisters who helped, supported and believed in me from the very beginning. Hotel Azur is my story, but it is also theirs.

And this is only the beginning, where everyone of you makes a part off ♡
